My new boyfriend

Isn't he handsome! his name is Rocky and he's and east coast guy (the guiding eye foundation), our eyes met across the crowded cafeteria, our tails wagged and before our peeps could say no, we were swappin' sniffs to say hello.

Well since we met, he has dropped by to visit. His mom took off his harness so we could play. Not sure if he likes me for me or because my office has toys and a bed. We shall see....

BFF thought it would be fun to see me in harness, she asked Rocky and his mom thought it would be hilarious to see him in my puppy jacket. I'm a petite little girl only 40lbs and well Rock he's a big bruiser at 80lbs easy. So his harness had to be on the smallest setting and my jacket expanded all the way would only fit around his neck. It needed another 12 inches or so to make it around his chest.

Bamboo and I are going to be photographed for National Library week ad. It is just going to run on campus, but I still am uber excited to have the pup pictured around campus.

But I need HELP! We get to choose a book to be pictured with, as Bamboo doesn't really read yet what book do you think she would like? Thunder Dog? Marley and Me? A Ball for Rosy?

Help! - we have to choose one over the weekend 'cause we need to take the pictures next week.

The CEO of Girl Scouts of the USA!

Living and or working anywhere near Pasadena, means that around New Years there is a good chance you will be involved somehow with the Rose Parade.

Add to that the Girl Scouts are celebrating their 100th birthday - and it was destined that Bamboo had to go out and help with the Rose Parade Float decorating.

Stymied by the lack of thumbs, she resorted to being a great cheer leader. Every where she went, the Girl Scouts who were decorating the float loved all over the baby, some were very excited when they heard they could raise a dog for their gold award. Bamboo is so jazzed about going to camp this summer, as long as it means she gets to play with all of girls there. The CEO of GSUSA was there and we got a picture with her! We will post that later.

The flowers were amazing, thousands upon thousands of roses in every shade, we wandered over to see both the Girl Scout and Natural Balance floats. The NB float is the longest and heaviest float. It has a wave pool where Tillman and his friends will be surf boarding down Colorado Blvd. I thought there were going to be guide dogs involved, but not this year. :(

That little station wagon up top, is actually an enclosed kennel, once the dogs reach the end of the wave pool, they hop into the car and are driven back to the front of the wave pool!

Great outing for her, there were tons of people, smells and noise. She did pretty good, at first she wasn't sure she wanted to be there, but like the new kid at school, once she made friends all she wanted to do was play. Everyone loved her! She really doesn't like to take pictures and sat there sulking every time I made her pose. Poop Head

Too many people and not enough of ME!

There are three people at home and only one of me. They all expect me to love them the best and I do, but it sure is tiring. For instance, I have to spend the afternoon keeping mom on the sofa - I take my job as a mom paper weight very seriously, I mean what if she wandered away who would feed us?

After sleeping on mom, I have to take BFF out for a walk, she's getting a little chubby and the exercise is good for her. After checking out the park, I get back to the house and Eggo expects me to spend quality time with her.... so after spending a few minutes letting her rub my tummy. I have to start the whole rotation all over again. Don't even get me started on bed time, they take it personally if I don't sleep with them, there has been bribery, trickery and guilt

The little squirt tries but let's face it she is just not me. Uh ohhh someone is in the kitchen they might need me gotta run, a lab's work is never done.

I'm lucky puppy raiser. In one way, shape or form I keep in touch w/all the girls I've had a hand in raising.

Case in point- Tacoma comes by every now and the to say hello. Her person works @ the same place and we run into each other. Th other day she dropped in and we introduced the two girls. I love bamboo's expression, not surewhat to make of the very large lab next to her.

Love that I get to see her, even if it is clear she just thinks of me as a friendly face, and a familar smell.

It started off as a two dog night around here. I had Waffle by my side and Ricola on my lap, warm and toasty we watched re-runs of Castle. The warm and toast-y-ness of the evening eventually lost it's appeal when I lost feeling in my legs. So I dumped the pup and got up for a drink, this is what I saw when I got back.

PITs are not allowed on furniture, and Bamboo likes to sneak up on the sofa, just like her half sis. the challenge is staying ahead of them and catching them before they get on the sofa, on that count tonight I FAILED.

Limerick on the dog bed - 'Limerick, blah-blah-blah-ba-ba' is all she heard from tonight's etiquette conversation.

After having a little talk with Ricola about where she can and can not do, she agreed to sleep on the dog bed at least I think she agreed, we shall see.

This past June I found an awesome price on a trip to Japan. 6 days and 4 nights hotel and flight for a song, it was part of a promo to help Japan to get back on their feet after the earthquake. While there I ate great food, walked miles and miles and finished the trip with a visit to Tokyo's Disney by the Sea.

Wanting to represent, I brought my Born to Lead T-shirt!

It was a short trip from Tokyo to the Disney Resorts, there are two: Disney by the Sea and Disneyland. I had heard that Disneyland is pretty much the same but smaller, so I chose Disney by the Sea. There were a few things from California Disney and a few unique rides. It is set up to mimic port towns from around the world: American, Italy, Arabia, Amazon river and Mysterious Island - it is in the volcano behind me.

Truffie in the snow with her partner

Truf in snow for the 1st time, who knew it was so cold in Texas. The butt head is pissed about having to wear her booties. She wants to play but doesn't like her shoes but with the cold and salt shoes are a must. I was worried because Truf didn't want to work in the snow and in her shoes. I'm thinking 'crap I gave her a defective dog' but Ashley let me know that she it is something she and Truf just need to work on. She is slowly introducing her to snow - things look different to Truf and sound different to Ashley, like any new partnership it just needs time to develop. *wheeeewww*

It fun to hear from Truf's partner it helps with understanding puppy raising. The funny habit that Truf had of coming into the bathroom while I'm in the shower for a drink of warm cucumber body wash scented water, isn't so entertaining to her partner. Bamboo's desire to fall asleep in my lap while cute may not work for her next partner. I wish we could have seen how all the pieces fit together three dogs ago, so many training tips make sense now, and we also now see the importance of raising a confident dog. That love and trust she has will carry her through a lot - yes even the occasional snow storm

A fun comparison of the two half sisters, Truf was the smallest in her class at 17 inches. I hope that Miss Bamboo will be a bit taller, her half sister Limerick has nice long legs - which we are afraid she got from her mom. Both Lani and Forte are on the short side. Only time will tell

I'm going on a sleep over. My half sister Limerick and I are going to do a trade - for two long weeks. BFF said Limerick has THE BIGGEST toy box ever, but I'm still packing a few things to remind me of home. My blankie, a stuffie and a bone. I hear Limerick's Daddy is a cuddler so I'm pretty excited. Yesterday, BFF's lap was full of computer and there was no room for me, but never count me out, I squeezed my little self into a space the size of a napkin. BFF didn't believe I could do it, and once I did she had the nerve to evict me! hhhrrruuuumppp

Went to costco - that place is really really really big (still need that thesaurus) I didn't like it. BFF put me in the cart which was fine with me, I was right and everyone else's line of sight and soon everyone wanted to meet me. I was more popular than the sample ladies! Gotta roll - C-ya in two weeks.

So BFF runs a market that sells Fleas. Don't know why anyone would be interested in buying those, I've got a few that I'd give away for free. Anyway Saturday she was working and I got to go along. He's me learning how to drive the cart -- as soon as my feets are long enough BFF said I could drive! I wonder how long that will be.

So it was a big day, after helping to set up the Flea Market, we had to go shopping I went to: Smart and Final, Lowes, Petco, Trader Joe, and Super Pets. I was finished by Lowes, I didn't want to shop anymore but being the good PIT I went along (Carrie: dragging her paws the whole way)

By the time I got home I was sooo happy to see my house, I hopped out of the car and ran, RAN! right up to the front door and right into my house.*sigh* Happy to be home, promptly started chewing on Waffles and then I knew all was right with the world.

Bamboo's first bath, she did pretty well for such a soft gal (GDB's word for scary-dee-dog) she did pretty well. More curious than anything and because she is 1/2 of Waffle's size soooo much easier to bathe. Love it when they are little, you can man handle them around. But she really seemed to like the whole bath process, my dogs have this thing with warm water, don't know what it is but they like getting a drink from the faucet

If the lab gods are feeling generous, I do believe I might have a lab who actually LIKES water. *gasp* Stay tuned for the final verdict.

Well let me introduce you to Tripod.... Truffie and now Bamboo's favorite friend. Some how when Truffie was playing with him, a limb went missing, but not to worry a bit of stitching and we were good as new. He was one of the lucky ones, you see he is the lone survivor, let's just say Truffie often loved her stuffies a bit too much.

He is the lone survivor from the legendary Christmas haul of 2011, the girls really cleaned up that year. Usually Truffie is more of a nylabone type of gal, but costco had these really cute stuffies on sale and poor Waffle had been denied her favorites stuffies 'cuz PIT's are allowed to have them.... and we got carried away I got her a few of these and Eggo bought her a few of those and Mom bought her a couple and before you knew it......this was their xmas haul. Did I mention how much Truffie loved the farting hedgehogs?

Yesterday my BFF took me to this really cold and really dark room. There was lots of seats all facing this really, really big tv screen. The sound was really loud and all these pictures flashed across the tv. Well it was really kind of boring until this really,really, really, huge Doberman came on screen. (Note to self get thesaurus)

Anyway I popped up to see what he was doing and he lets out this stream of very naughty words, well at least I think they were naughty - he was barking with a French accent. BFF covered my ears so I'm thinking I shouldn't repeat what he said. It wasn't too bad, even though I'm supposed to keep 4 on the floor, I'll give it 1 paw up.

Guide Dog pups have to learn that they can't eat food off the floor. Free floor food can come back to haunt you in very unpleasant ways. So labs being 90% stomach have to learn self -discipline early on in life. Bamboo just started walking around and all sorts of stuff seems to be finding its way into her mouth. This piece of persimmon actually fell on top of her head. Taking advantage of the moment we worked on the leave it command and learning to ignore yummies on the floor.

By her expression you can tell she was questioning my sanity for not eating that sweet smelling snack that had fallen from the sky onto her head.

Temptation is hard, I think she thought if she stared at it long enough it might leap into her mouth. I eventually threw it away and gave her a big hug for resisting temptation. Not all training goes this well, but we will take wins where we could.

Truffie turns 2 today!

wow how time has flown, this picture is from her birthday trip to Disneyland last year. We always take the pups to have their silhouette cut, we put her in the chair so the artist could see her, and the whole while her tail was wagging a mile a minute. She loved being the star of the moment. What a ham.

It is hard to believe that she has been a working guide since August, she is loved and living an exciting life as a co-ed - don't think I could have planned it better if I tried.

I loved that Truff never got winter nose, where in yellows their noses go pink, she did lose some of her dark pigment, but overall she had the most lovely black nose!


I love this picture, it is Truffie checking out Pluto to see if he is a real dog, but the best part of this is her blurred tail. Sometimes I was afraid her tail would fly off, she would wag her ENTIRE BUTT! Silly Labbie

Bamboo wedged herself under my desk, in the smallest section. I have one of those modular desk that wraps around my office in U shape, the smallest cubby is where I stow all my junk. I keep this huge stuff sheep there long with my PC, purse and lunch bag. I turned around one day and found her there. Just sitting on top of all my stuff. Now before you all start felling sorry for the rug rat, she has a brand new bed and a bed full of puppy toys. Why she wanted to sit there is beyond me.

I found my sister

So I wasn't always an only pup, I remember having lots of buddies to hang out with. I found out my sister is famous. She was sent all the way to Texas, to be raised by nice people in the Lone Star puppy club. Even though she was part of my litter - the B group she got a special name. It sure had BFF and mom scratching their heads all my borthers and me are all 'B-dogs' and my sister is IZA (Ezah). I guess it was a special favor, she was named after two newscasters in the local Dallas area. Check out their web page here

Well for all you country folk and your quaint pumpkin patches, corn mazes and hay rides, we here in the city do things a little differently.

Our pumpkin patches are a bit different no dirt, corn or hay here, just a lot of people food on display. It might have been a food museum, because everything was on display and BFF told me to keep my nose, paws and tongue to myself.

I had stripped my bed and had washed my sheets, I hadn't gotten around to remaking my bed and was using my computer when the phone rang. She is not allowed on my bed without sheets and she knows it. I was on the phone when slick as can be she slides up behind me and when I stand up to put the phone away-she made her move. She doesn't even use puppy eyes any more when i tell her to move - she just shoots me an arrogant look and goes back to reading facebook.

A picture of the college girl hard at work. Truf has settled in well, she and her partners have been learning about each other and their new living space. Truffie hates the rain and tried pulling Ashley to the 1st available classroom, whether it was the right one or not! She apparently likes the boys and has been caught sniffing and making eyes and a few young men. Being a true So. Cal girl she even snuggles under the covers on nights when the floor is too cold! She even got into a bit of a tussel - sassy girl that she is. Actually it wasn't her fault, she and Ashley were leaving the music building when the marching band came rushing in, some jerk knocked over Truffie, didn't even notice it until Ashley dropped her stuff to check on the pup. He said 'oh sh--' and walked on. Truf bounced back with a kiss and a wag and the pair went on their way. That's my girl, now only next time let's hope she manages to take a bite out the next jerk who tries that.

all in all loving that her partner are having a great time in college. All I ever wanted for Truff was to have a great life and it looks like she has got it.

ps - the growths in her mouth, well the vet has no idea what they are, not cancerous so now it is just let's keep an eye on it - type of thing.

So just before we got our newest pup, we did a round of dog sitting. Jody was our last and oldest puppy ~~victim~~ sitee. Because she had just turned one,we scooped her off to a mid-week Disneyland visit. Such a sweet girl, too nice to tell us to buzz off with the pictures, of which we took plenty. We walked around rode the train, had lunch and just soaked up the sights and sounds.

She was also not too impressed with the happiest place on earth. No pleasing everyone. But still it was a great training day with lots of sights (what in the world is that huge stuffed thing?) and smells (cotton candy, popcorn, hot dogs! Oh My!) and new experiences.

Working as a PIT is hard work, after an exhausting afternoon being cute, Ms. Jo Jo needed her afternoon nap. All in all a great day out. She needs to get used to crowds, but who wouldn't be scared of screaming toddlers and six feet tall stuffed dogs but excellent control and No garbage mouthing! GOOD DOG Jody!

I'm a year old today, that means I'm all grow'd up. Although being a year doesn't feel any different than being 11 months. It's not like the peeps are letting me drive or gamble in Vegas. Speaking of which I'm not even home today. The peeps dropped me off at the sitters while they went off to Mom's class reunion IN LAS VEGAS. Why they couldn't take me I have no clue. I wanted to see the light show and I hear they have all you can eat buffets - wow unlimited kibble - that's my idea of a party!

But on my special day I wanted to share 12 things that I like:

Gardening - who doesn't like puttering around in the flower beds?

Naps in the sun - can't think of a better way to pass the day away

Waffle - even if she tells me fibs and rolls me in the dirt, I think she's the bee's knees

Kibble - need I say more

My Chewies- mmmm nyla wishbones are my favorite (hint hint)

My tail - it's my happy meter, the faster it goes the happier I am

Mom - my human mom is my best pal, she makes me feel warm and safe

BFF - she takes me places, rubs my ears and laughs when I do my somersaults

Truffie's pink mouth

Truffie's partner, found a growth in her mouth. She thought it was a cold sore, but it has been growing. They took her to the local vet who wants to take it out to run some tests. They have to put her under for the surgury and she can't work for a few days. Poor thing is feeling a little under the weather and a bit snappish, so you know it must be sore. Will keep everyone up to date.

My little girl has survived quite a bit, this picture was from when she decied that a cherry sented Mr. Sketchy would be an appropreate chew toy. Lets hope this new adventure will blow over as quickly as the water based ink from Mr. Sketchy.

So I've been slacking, blame it on the new job, and a pretty boring summer. I did get away for a quick vacation, and of course Truffie's graduation. I still have to post pictures and tell you all her wonderful story. But for now know that Truf, was paired with a wonderful young woman who has just started her freshman year at Texas Tech in Lubbock. So Truf is a Red Raider and will be going to her 1st college game on Saturday. So far she has had the usual freshman experiences getting lost on campus, chasing after boys (unfortunately she took Ashley with her), wardrobe malfunctions (she refused to wear her snazzy new red boots), and sleeping in class (English is not her favorite). Let's hope she skips the freshman 15, cuz with her short legs she'd look like a stuffed bratwurst.

So I am thankful her person likes facebook is happy to share news about the little poop head. Graduation pics are coming I promise.

Bust out the motarboard the silly girl herself has been placed with her partner and with any luck she will be graduating Aug 6th.

Can believe how fast she went through the phases. One week she is repeating phase 3 then she was in 5 and now she is in class. Breaks my heart, we were hoping to keep her. Now comes the waiting game. Tamika was placed twice before she was dropped from the program. Anything could happen....(biting my nails....)

You worry about who has her, will they love her like we loved her? Will she go far away? and most importantly will she be having fun? We got into this gig to raise a dog that would help someone, and yet along the way it also became about the pups and helping them fulfill their own destiny -- they all have great things to accomplish in their lives, and for a brief moment we were privileged to be part of that.

Like kids I guess you need to let them go off and see the world, while it breaks our hearts to say it

Nice article from the LA times, funny they kept referring to Guide Dogs but it seems like they never actually spoke (or at least quoted) anyone form the school. I read it to Waffle, especially the part about the wonderful temperaments of labs - she just rolled her eyes and went back to sunbathing.

My little girl is must be wearing her smarty pants, cuz she is truckin' along. Someone must have told her about the party for the graduates. You know Truffle loves a good party. So this week she has moved up a phase and is in phase three.

Big challenge in phase 3

Notable Accomplishment - Preliminary Blindfold Testing

The instructor works a dog under blindfold on an urban/suburban area route, a distance of approximately

10 blocks. In order to pass preliminary guidework testing, a dog must demonstrate an understanding of

safe guidework skills and focus on work and handler. Obedience exercises are done at some point on

route, usually when distraction is present.

Dogs that pass preliminary blindfold testing progress to advanced guidework training. Dogs that do not

pass receive further training and are re-tested when ready. Dogs that demonstrate major weaknesses in

the basic fundamentals oftentimes are given additional training time with another string.

She also knows all her commands and must demonstrate them while being tempted with fun distractions - which if Truffie is on her game, she will pass with flying colors otherwise the party girl will have to stay inside during recess for extra help.

Boy am I glad I didn't let her bring the flower hat to school.

Ok if you guessed Lani you are right. She was the third pup I raised and our first GDB success. She is now part of the breeding colony and lives with the bestest BKs ever. It is nice bc Carol works up at GDB so she understands when I get a little neurotic about the girls (she sneaks a peak at Truffie every now and again.)

So the news is Lani is preggo...... again

This is her third litter, her peeps asked to have her bred again this cycle so that she can be home for the holidays, the last two litters she whelped over Thanksgiving and she ends up missing the holidays with her family.

She was bred to Forte and is due July 7th, she has just started looking round, and the ultra sound confirms 5-6 pups. We hope to raise one of her girls in September, so if anyone wants to raise in the fall, ask for a Lani pup!

GDA Open House

Took some time out today to enjoy GDA's annual open house.....mmmm smell the puppy breath!

The theme was something with flowers, and this pup was in full bloom

Part of the day involves an obstacle course for pups, balloons, stuffies, food, different surfaces, food, animals (llamas and chickens), and water

poor pups had to pass three different hot dog plants, pups of all ages take part in the event. It is timed and based on age groups

It is a 'D' litter reunion. GDA allows their raisers to chose their pups names, they are give a litter letter and they can submit a few names from which GDA chooses the final name.

What's up Truffie!

So it has been a month since the silly girl went away to college. For the longest time we were waiting for news. Lucky Lani Truffie's mom is up there at GDB and she sent down a little report. So for the 1st part of her time up there, she was being looked at to be a breeder, but after a few tests (In my mind I visualize her at her vision test: which is more clear.... 1 or 2? Raise your paw when you see two objects... he he he- really how do they test their eyes?) she was passed over for breeding and sent off to be a guide.

Something about her patella scores being too low.

Look at that! Her patella's are fine!

So now she is in her 1st week of training, Phase 1, which is all about learning the clicker, getting used to the training van and showing off her obedience skills. This period is about laying down the foundation for her future success, she has to get used to wearing the harness, backing up (not a natural skill) and being touched like her future VI partner might do.

So keep you fingers and paws crossed for her. Dogs progress at their own pace, so it could be up to six months for her to complete training.

Most raisers know that just when the silly fuzz balls are about to be made into a dishrag or a stylish lab foot rest they give us moments like this.

Didn't think she would get out of the house without some humiliation.

Two words.....FOOD BELLY

Lim-ricky, as I liked to call her wasn't a problem (Waffle may disagree) but just got news that my problem child Tacoma, ate something she shouldn't have. Now as a pup she was a HUGE HUGE HUGE garbage mouth. Stair treads, leashes, shoes, you name it she ate it growing up, at her new home, she ate 1lb of grapes and ended up in the doggie ER with damaged kidneys. I guess last weekend she some how got ahold of some rat poison. She found it in a tube that the city had put out in a drainage ditch. Lucky her people got to her in time and took it away from her. Still there was a call to the vet, (they have him on speed dial) just to make sure she'd be ok, turns out she needed some vitamin K just in case. Still it was a tense night and when her people heard the distinctive 'whoop whoop' everyone's heart dropped......guess what she threw up?

While everyone was worried about the rat poison, she managed to woof down two seed pods from a local tree...... *sigh*

Let me just say she was a really REALLY cute puppy.

thanks for the info about food. Might stick with the dehydrated food, I don't think she minds eating cold food, we just think 'we don't want to eat cold food so why should she?' Definitely need to do the fish oil thing she has dry skin.

It is freeze dried beef and veggies, all raw. You rehydrate it int he fridge overnight.

We tried it, and while Waffle seemed to like it, we were not fans. You have to refrigerate it, but we don't want to give her cold food, so we have to nuke it a bit to warm it up, which makes the microwave smell. So not really sold on it.

what do you guys feed? Should we be feeding her more veggies, or is her Natural Balance Lamb and rice enough? I am thinking aobut adding some sort of joint supplement and maybe salmon oil. What do you guys do?

So Limerick, still doesn't have all her shots yet, so until then when going outside I have to carry her. GDB had a bad Parvo Scare back in Dec. So they have been ultra careful to ensure all the pups stay healthy. She could go to the office, but I had to carry her there and back. Which would have worked if someone hadn't been such a squirmy wormy. We ended up putting her in the kennel. But the bag was cute while it lasted.

You know my doggie pals, peeps never learn. They just got rid of one problem and they go and get another!

Look at that blank stare, to quote my pal Mango "Dofus" the dog not the person. Why would they go and get another one, when I am so perfect? I mean really folks this can't keep happening. A girl can only take so much.

Thank goodness she goes to work, otherwise she spends the day lazying around the house sleeping. Now I know you might be saying to yourself 'Waffle you sleep most of the day too' WRONG! I'm providing needed companionship to my people, by laying around in their path, sleeping on their beds, and following them into the bathroom they are reminded about how important I am to their lives.

Waffle WEAVE!

So Waffle loves agility, but I don't love the cost of her classes. So we decided to skip this last session and I promised her I'd build some stuff at home. Not being very DIY I wasn't sure what the end product would look like. But I'd say things worked out pretty well. It may not exactly be competition standard, but do you really see my Waffle running in formal competition? Not so much.

But she loves the new toys and that's all that matters. It was cheap too. I think all told 8 weave poles and three jumps all for about $20, that would not even buy us one class. We are bribing a friend in construction to make us a hold table, and looking a a cheap way to make a tunnel or chute.

One of the last outings I took Truffie on was out to volunteer at the Youth Hostel and then to walk the 3rd street promenade. While shopping at REI a kid asks if he can pet Truffle, I usually say 'you have to ask your parents' and then leave before they can come back. But he was quick and I was slow, we start talking and he says his brother has a service dog so off we go to meet his family and their dog. Ackman is a Autism service dog, his boy likes to wander away and he is trained to find him! Very cool. I got the feeling that while the dog is supposed to help the boy, it is really the parents who do the handling.

It was nice to see another working dog. I can only hope that the next working dog I meet will be Miss Truffie.

Princess Pretty Toes

Thats the name we've always called Miss Waffles, she would tip toe out in the damp grass to do her business, such a fussy butt. She also is a deep deep sleeper. Put the two together with a bottle of nail polish and someone got a surprise make over.

I was looking for a new shade for me and found a 98 cent bottle that I bought for just for her. Because of the way she was sleeping only 3 paws got the make over, I'll try to finish the job tonight.

This weekend BFF took me back to camp. I forgot how much fun it could be. My good bud Petri was there and I got to spend a lot of time just hanging out. BFF was cooking so I had to sit in the breezway and watch and smell all the good things she was cooking.

There is only so much sitting a dog can do, so when they asked if I wanted to help with a skit I jumped at the chance. Here is the video of my acting debut. Look don't you think that I played my part with gusto and virve?

Carrie: The funny thing is I was doing the dishes in the kitchen when they ran in and said I had to see Truffie in her skit. So she had been playing her part for a good two minutes before I even got there and rolled tape. My first reaction when I saw this is 'WHAT ARE THEY FEEDING MY DOG!' Then I clued into the skit. She played her part really well. Either she was thinking 'these folks are a bit off and I better humor them' or 'maybe next time there will be something'

Girl Scout Meeting

So despite really crappy traffic we made it to the meeting, where Truffie was her adorable cute self. we gave the speal and guess what they wanted to know.............................how does the blind person know how to pick up the poop? Then we went on to a bunch of questions about how does the dog fly on the plane....like what happens if someone has an allergy? are they scared? do they wear seat belts? what the heck, strange children. None the less we enjoyed it.

Today was errand day. Both pups to the vet - Truffie for her booster shots and Waffle for her mani and pedi. I also dropped off some pants to be hemmed, filled the tank, got my oil changed, picked up stuff at costco and target and picked up stuff to make weave poles for Waffle. I'll post pictures of the process later.

Truffie and I are speaking to a group of girl scouts in two weeks. We will be talking about GDB and puppy raising. These kids are around 10 and up. For those of you who have done this before, what are the typical questions they usually have? Any thing that would impress them? Any other suggestions? We only have 20 mins.

Like a good Guide Dog

Truffie is there......

Well I hope one day to be a guide dog, Friday I spent the WHOLE day practicing again. Mom had to go see the eye doctor, so I went along. Here is mom explaining what all the machines are. It is important that I practice at the Dr.'s office because my future partner will probably have to go to one sooner or later.

It was really hard because no one was interested in me! Can you believe it? And after a while the whole Dr. thing was kind of over rated. I just spent the day sleepin' in the corner. Between the Dentist and the eye doctor let's hope my peeps are done with Doctor's visits. Or at least find another PIT to practice with.
