eeewwwww

*kind of gross pictures below*
I noticed Truffie had some black crud stuck around her nipples. Since her last heat she has retained some fluid in her mammary glands, I was waiting for it to reabsorb and tonight I noticed she had this crust/crud stuck around two of her nipples. At first I thought it was dirt, but as I picked at it I realized that it was kind of dried skin/crust. It is not oozey just kind of scab like. Any ideas?

No suggestions, but I would get her to the vet. Looks nasty.

P.S. Thanks for posting the "gross" photos. It really helps with other owners who might have dogs with issues.

Is she messing with them? LIke licking/biting them a lot? Maybe it was irritated to the point of scabbing...

Have you noticed her scratching her tummy more than normal? If she's been chewing on her nipples it might actually be a scabs.

She just started scratching them and thought she had fleas so I took a look. I was able to clean them with eye wash, and she didn't seem to be uncomfortable. My CRF has seen it before but not sure what is the cause. She is still her usual goofy self

No worries, I've had that with my girls before (looks identical) and I just pick it off-- nasty but it's no biggy.

Betsy gets stuff like that all the time. I just clean it out and it's fine. I have no idea what causes it though!
